MEP Takeoffs Services
An MEP takeoff provides a quantity baseline for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work in your plans. Cestimating groups the requested counts and measurements by trade so your team can apply its own supplier prices, labor factors and bid strategy.
What is included
- Mechanical equipment, ductwork and piping quantities within scope
- Electrical device, fixture and equipment counts and supported route measurements
- Plumbing fixture, pipe, fitting and specialty quantities
- Quantity summaries organized by trade, system and agreed units
- Scope notes, measurement assumptions and requested addendum updates
Who this is for
Contractors with their own supplier pricing or labor factors who need organized quantities or an independent second takeoff.
Your deliverable
A quantity-first spreadsheet-ready package. Material pricing and labor or cost extensions are added only if you request a fuller estimating scope.
Scope checks before pricing
- Agree the trades, systems and measurement units before work starts.
- Separate repeated units from shared building systems to avoid double counting.
- Keep pricing and labor extensions optional when the assignment is quantity-only.
Every deliverable identifies the agreed inclusions and exclusions. Changes to the plans, requested trades or deadline may change the assignment and delivery commitment.
From drawings to a reviewable bid
-
Send the current documents
Send the complete current drawings, specifications, equipment or fixture schedules, issued addenda, project city and state, bid deadline and the trades you need. Include your pricing instructions, required output format and exclusions.
-
Confirm scope and output
Agree the trades, systems, quantities, pricing basis and required file format. Identify any addendum support or special breakdowns before work starts.
-

Check quantities, assumptions and exclusions against the bid requirements. Reconcile supplier quotes and forward new addenda promptly.
Project locations
Our dedicated location guides cover Arizona and Florida. For a project elsewhere in the United States, send the location and plans so availability and scope can be confirmed before work is accepted.
MEP Takeoffs questions
Practical answers to help you choose a deliverable and prepare your bid scope.
What is the difference between an MEP takeoff and an estimate?
A takeoff measures and counts the requested work. An estimate adds agreed pricing, labor and other cost assumptions to those quantities. Choose a takeoff when your team will do the pricing and a full estimate when you need that additional cost structure.
Does an MEP takeoff include material prices?
A quantity-only takeoff does not automatically include pricing. You can apply your own prices or request a separate cost extension when you need an estimate.
Can MEP quantities be separated by trade?
Yes. Request mechanical, electrical and plumbing summaries, with further separation by system, floor or building when required. Agree that breakdown before work starts so the output fits your bid review.
Can I get an MEP takeoff in Excel?
Excel-ready output is available within the agreed deliverable. Share any required workbook layout, item coding or unit conventions before the assignment is confirmed.
Can you update a takeoff after an addendum?
Revision support is agreed at intake. Send the revised sheets and specifications with the addendum number and identify the deadline. The update scope and delivery time are confirmed after review.
How much do MEP takeoffs services cost?
The estimating fee depends on drawing volume, system complexity, trade coverage, the deliverable and the deadline. Send the current plans for a scope-based quote. The fee for preparing an estimate is separate from the construction cost shown in that estimate.
How long does the work take?
Typical bid scopes target 24–48 hours after complete plans and scope confirmation. Larger, unusually detailed or multi-building packages are scheduled after review. Tell us your bid deadline before the assignment is confirmed.
What should I send to request a quote?
Send the complete current drawings, specifications, equipment or fixture schedules, issued addenda, project city and state, bid deadline and the trades you need. Include your pricing instructions, required output format and exclusions.
Are addenda and revisions included?
Addendum and revision support is agreed at intake. Send the changed drawings and specifications with their revision numbers; the affected scope, fee and delivery time are confirmed after review.
